It’s Charisma’s World and We’re All Just Living in it

It's our favorite Partigirl's birthday and we're celebrating with her. As we prepare for her party at The Virgil on the 24th, we wanted our readers to get to know her better.

Okay. So I’m here with @earth2charisma, we’re doing a little mini interview. Oop–I stepped in cereal.

There’s cereal in my bra! There’s cereal everywhere.

Q: Another year, another birthday. How do you feel?

Oh my God. Twenty-five feels so good. Feels like the year. It’s the year of the snake, I’m the year of the dragon, but…ya know.

Do you feel like twenty five is treating you well so far?

Twenty five feels sexy.

Q: Do you have any advice for those who feel uncertain about aging?

What do you mean?

During your twenty-fourth birthday—I remember—you were like, “I’m getting old!”

I always feel like I’m getting old! But also, I just feel sexy!

Q: How old is too old to go clubbing?

There’s no being too old! Do you remember when we went to Shanghai’d Room and there was that guy Bill who used to party with us?

Yes! I loved Bill. (Clarification: Bill was a bar regular at Shanghai’d Room who we would constantly run into. He looked like he was in his 60s/70s and always sang glam rock during karaoke.)

I have videos of him interrupting our karaoke songs so he could sing. He was the best.

Q: You have a lot of tattoos. Plan on getting more?

Absolutely. I plan on blasting out the rest of my chest and getting some more on my back. I want to get a tattoo gun soon so I can have all my friends tattoo this arm [points to bare arm].

Q: What type of people do you hate?

I hate people who live in LA and talk about how much they hate it. Why are you here? You're in the epicenter of everything–everything is happening.

I don’t like the idea of “transplants.” I feel like Los Angeles is a boiling pot.

I also hate nepotism. That’s one thing that I hate a lot. Seeing a lot of my friends being creative here and seeing how amazing they are. And then seeing how far other people get thanks to their parents instead of people who actually deserve it. That hurts me.

Q: What do you think makes a good DJ?

I feel like this mainly applies to [popular LA club] that mainly plays top 100 instead of playing more underground music. I feel like it's more fun and unique to hear music I haven't heard before. I can go to any club and listen to Taylor Swift.

I haven’t gone out in a minute because I feel like the [clubbing] scene has kinda died. I feel like what Parti.la is doing is keeping the scene alive. I love going to your shows because everyone is dressing up, having fun, and everything feels alive. I love going to them. I’m not just saying this as your friend. Even if we didn’t know each other, I would still be going to Parti.la events.

Q: Do you consider yourself a Partigirl?

Absolutely. I love going out. I love LA. LA is the realest fucking place–it’s genuine. You meet the most genuine people.

Seeing the scene of the early 2000s as a kid, I always wanted to be a part of it. I feel like my childhood dreams are coming true. When I was younger, everyone wanted to be a doctor or a lawyer and I knew I wanted to be a hot emo tumblr girl.

Q: Do you see yourself living in another city?

That would be New York. But I see myself dying in LA. I love it here.
